Side table – DIY – Furniture Makeover

Those of you who know me know that I love a bargain! Wherever I can I will buy something second hand, paint it and make it new:)
Whenever I see an old piece of furniture I dont rubbish I see potential:)
For a few months I was in search of an old style buffet/side table to go in our lounge room when it was finished being renovated, I searched for months with no luck. Until one day I stopped by the Salvos one afternoon on the way home from a client meeting, I even hesitated stopping, well Im glad I did because I found the perfect side table, now anyone would have seen it as a icky brown piece of junk, but I fell in love!

I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it, I had envisioned a french provincial style, two tone, antique looking finish.
I follow some great DIY blogs and they had some great tips on re-painting old furniture (Classy ClutterShow & Tell, Better After)

Armed with some sand paper and a few cans of spray paint I got to work on my master piece.

I am super thrilled with how it turned out!! It has also been featured in a couple of my Bridal expos:)

Here are some before and after pics:)

old side table buffet before being repainted

I spray painted the body and draws a matte white then went over all the details with a piece of sand paper to give the Antique/worn effect. I then used a Satin black spray paint for the top and handles. It turned out exactly how I pictured it:)

Beautiful job! This is the same finish I plan to do on my desk soon! I’ll be pinning this on Pinterest to keep a fresh reminder. ;)

Aloha,
Charlie

I saw this gorgeous transformation on Better After! I’m so impressed…and inspired! I got a coffee table very much like this for free off the curb and this is exactly how I want it to look after painting it…and adding some legs on it to make it taller:-)
Very, very nice! Thanks for the photos.
